The first barrier en route to the Pyramid is the Kanara Desert. Trees and shrubs are almost nonexistent, and the fierce sandstorms that sometimes occur make it a real stumbling block for travelers. But despite the risks, there are some special hunters called “Kanara hunters” who go into the desert for a chance to find rough diamonds uncovered by the sandstorms.
The two great dangers in the Kanara Desert are the fierce sandstorms that sometimes occur, and the sand worms that consume anything and everything. Sand worms usually bury themselves in the sand, using their four ears to sense nearby prey. When the prey nears the sand worm’s head, it leaps out from the sand and eats it. Sand worms are omnivores, so they eat everything, but it’s said they especially like to eat diamonds.
