I want to fight a real opponent! Hoowwwl!
Volk

Volk (ヴォルク Voruku) is a proud warrior of the Lupine tribe and one of the seven playable Deimos characters in Arc The Lad: Twilight of the Spirits, later appearing in the post game of Arc The Lad: End of Darkness. He makes his first apperance in Kharg's first chapter of the game, The First Battle, but then properly appears in Darc's second chapter, Ambition, and allies with him from there.

Known for his loyalty to anyone he sees as his alpha, as well as his bloodthrist for any and all humans, Volk is one of Darc's fiercest allies. Though prone to bursts of anger and very prideful, deep down, he has respect for his allies and his alpha and sees them as friends.

Appearance[]

Volk is a muscular blue lupine with light blue skin, dark navy blue fur covering his head, shoulders, chest and navel, legs, forearms, and upper back. He has long claws on his toes and fingers, a long and thin tail, a dog collar on his left leg and a gauze around his right leg.

For attire, he wears a red cloak that's wrapped around his neck that covers his back, and an orange cloth that's wrapped around his waist. He also carries a skull and crossbones vambrace on his left arm, and wields a large axe. In End of Darkness, his left vambrace and leg attire are gone, and he now wears a belt around his waist.

Personality & Traits[]

Volk is a proud wariror of the Lupine tribe who has an intense hatred for humans after the deaths of his wife, Yrena, and his son, Nazaal, and the rest of his Lupine pack. Initially, Volk is depicted as angry and stubborn, with an urge to fight someone with equal strength, leading to his fight with Darc during Amibition. After his defeat, Darc is able to convince Volk to join his side, where he sees Darc as his 'alpha'. This relationship between the two would even grow to a friendship, which Volk recognizes after Darc and his allies talk with Williwo in Drakrynia. However, he does feel at times, Darc can be too soft, such as how he deals with Lilia.

Compared to his more positive relationship with Darc, Volk at first is seen butting heads with Delma a few times throughout the story, mainly after Delma's betrayal during Amibition, where he asks Darc to hunt her down. He however, does turn around with Delma after getting seperated with her alongside Kharg, Paulette, and Ganz. His relationship with Camellia is also strained at first by her double betrays at the Coleopt Shrine and in Rueloon. He does however, acknowledge her beauty when she is able to return to her original state on the Megist during Evolution. As for Bebedora, his conversations with her are rather brief, but he does have an issue with her looking into his mind.

While his interactions with humans is kept to a minimum due to his hatred, he shares a rivalry with Paulette due to her father, Lloyd being the one responsible for killing Yrena and Nazaal. He refuses to forgive Paulette for what Lloyd did until the end of the game, where after joining forces with the humans, he has no choice but to work with Paulette, even telling her that he won't let her die. This seems to let Paulette lighten up with him, as the two are seen watching Kharg, Darc, and Lilia converse on Cragh Island. Despite this, he is seen to be against the idea of a Hunter's Guild opening up in Orcoth in End of Darkness, not wanting humans to come into Deimos land. This is challenged when he goes against Edda to decide the fate of the guild, where if Edda loses, the guild is closed. However, he wins, and Volk is forced to admit defeat and acknowledge Edda's strength, while he is able to keep the guild open and free Kirika.

Story[]

Prior to Twilight of the Spirits[]

Born into the Lupine Tribe, Volk lived with a pack within his tribe, likely in and around Aldrow as their leader to his pack. Likely a few years before the events of Twilight of the Spirits, he would birth a son, Nazaal, with his mate, Yrena.

Twilight of the Spirits[]

Volk makes his first apperance in Garagne Hills during The First Battle, after having fought Lloyd and Paulette, swearing vengeance as he retreats for having lost his wife and son. He then runs away.

Volk's Tragedy

Volk explains his story to Darc after he beats the lupine; including his hatred of humans and his ambitions to fight.

Later, Volk then made his way to Orcoth, where he wiped out the arena combatants and was challenged by Darc after refusing to serve him, as he will only serve the "Alpha of his Pack", and mocks a 'human' for being leader of Orcoth. He is swiftly defeated by Darc, who asks him why he fights. He explains that his sole goal is to wipe out all humans, which Darc tells him is pointless and will only lead to his death. Darc then again offers him a chance to join him in uniting the Deimos and wiping out the humans together, a proposition to which Volk gladly agrees.

End of Darkness[]

Skills & Abilities[]

Due to being the strong-man of Darc's party, he is one of the more physically strongest characters in the game, sharing the same attack stats as Ganz and Densimo. Alongside his strength, Volk is able to use water and ice magic for his magical attacks, alongside other spells such as Wind Slasher and Stone Rush. His ultimate move, Diamond Dust, is learned at max rank. With his offensive spells, Volk learns many defensive spells, including Cure and Heated Soul.

Outside of combat, Volk has a very sensative nose that can sniff out others. This was seen in use during Ambition, where he used his scent to sniff out Lilia and later, wishes to do the same for Delma, which Darc doesn't allow.
